Living way up north of almost
every border in the Western Hemisphere hasn’t inoculated Vermonters
against Latin music-it’s that seductive. From sizzling salsa and
merengue to smooth cha-chas, SABOR is known for shaking the Yankee
foundations of clubs all over Vermont and New York State. Sabor's music
is also finding a niche in the Dominican Republic where their originals
"El Hombre Enamorao" and "Cuando te Espero" are heard on TV and radio
stations. Hailed as Vermont’s Salsa-Merengue Sensation by the Free
Press, Sabor’s sound is a heady mixture of salsa, merengue, and jazz,
infused with the infectious beat of traditional afro-dominican rhythms.
The fiery 9-piece ensemble features dynamic singer and bandleader,
Alejandro Torrens from the Dominican Republic, Latin jazz veteran and
trombonist Rick Davies, (Jazzismo, Tony Bennett, Michael Jackson, Tito
Puente), the powerful rhythms of percussionist Miguel Fenton, and the
masterful saxophone talents of Dave “The Truth” Grippo, (Grippo Funk
Band, Trey Anastasio) and Alex Stewart . Not a band to see for the stiff
concert-goer, SABOR is guaranteed to keep everyone, from the most
seasoned dancers, to even those with two left feet, moving all night
long.
